What a story card is
One card. One moment.
Six panels.
Each card walks a child through a single situation from beginning to end, in the order it will really happen, in plain words they already use. Reading it is short — about two minutes — so you can read it again tomorrow, and the day after.
- A pack holds 4–5 cards. Each card covers one piece of the same moment, so the whole event is familiar, not just the scary part.
- Plus a parent card. What the pack is for, when to read it, and the exact words to use later. Written for you, not the child.
- Your child is in the pictures. On customized packs, the child in the panels has your child's name, hair, skin tone and pronouns — chosen by you, no photo needed.

How to use them
A rehearsal, not a rescue.
These cards work before the hard moment, not during it. A child in the middle of a meltdown cannot take in a new story. A child who read one on Tuesday can.

-
Read it on a calm day
Not in the car outside the clinic. Pick an ordinary moment — after lunch, before a nap — when nobody is upset.
-
Read it three or four times before the day
Repetition is the whole mechanism. A child who has heard the story four times walks in recognizing what comes next.
-
Borrow the words on the day
The parent card gives you one short phrase from the story. Saying it in the moment brings back the calm version they already know.

Customization
Recognition is the point.
A child listens differently when the character is them. You build the character on the product page before you buy — name, hair, skin tone, glasses — and see them in a real panel. Every pack comes two ways, and both are the same stories.
Their name
On the cover and in every panel.
Their character
Built from choosers, not a photo upload.
Skin tone and hair
Six tones, six hair styles, six colors.
Pronouns
She, he, or they throughout.
From families
We read the dentist pack four times that week. She climbed into the chair by herself and told the hygienist what came next.
Marisol P., parent of 4-year-old
I finally had words for the goodbye instead of just leaving fast. The parent card is the part I did not know I needed.
Dana R., parent of 3-year-old
My son asked for his card at bedtime for a month. The new baby arrived and he was ready for the crying part.
Ken A., parent of 2- and 0-year-olds
Read one before you buy one.
We will send a complete story card as a printable PDF, plus the parent card that goes with it. No pack required.
Questions parents ask
Before you buy
Ages 2 to 5. The words are short enough for a two-year-old to follow along and specific enough that a five-year-old does not feel talked down to.
It will not help in that moment, and it may make things harder. The cards build a memory ahead of time. Comfort first, then read again the next calm day.
Building the character takes about two minutes on the product page — there is no photo to upload. Customized packs then print in 3–5 business days. Uncustomized packs ship the next business day.
If a card rips, tears or gets a hole in it — anything that makes it unreadable — tell us which card and we reprint it free. The cards are meant to be handled by small hands, so this happens and it is fine. Lost cards are not covered.
Yes. Uncustomized packs are sold in classroom sets of six. Contact us and we will set it up.
